Mahinda is a Soldier who lost both hands and both eyes in a bomb blast. A foreign visiting consultant eye surgeon had advised that he has a chance to gain sight in the righ eye by undergoing a Boston Keratoprosthesis Implant surgery. The surgery will be done at Lanka Hospitals on 17- Aug-2010.

Needs to undergo Boston Keratoprosthesis Implant surgeryon the right eye to gain eye sight.
Surgery is scheduled to be performed at Lanka Hospitals by a foreign visitng Consulant Eye Surgeon on 17-Aug-2010.
Cost of the Surgery is estimated at Rs.250,000. An additional cost of about 30,000/- is expected for traveling, post-op channeling etc. Mahinda has secured a donation of Rs.150,000 from the Army and the Ranaviru Seva Authority.

[Update 06-09-2010] The required amount was raised. The surgery was performed on 01-Sep-2010. Mahinda was discharged on 05-Sep-2010 and was able to see shadow like images. Doctor beleives the sight will further improve with medication over time.
