Ranaviru Fund has provided rehabilitation, Educational and medical aid worth over Rs. 4.5 Million for the benefit of the war veterans and their families. Providing over 570 Educational and Medical sponsorships for the children of killed/disabled soldiers by facilitating the scholarship programs of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Navy and Ranaviru Seva Authority is one of our major achievement.
We have reached the next level of our service providing by initiating two new projects to build 'disabled-friendly' washrooms and to provide state of the art fully flexible artificial limbs for the heroic soldiers who have suffered permanent disability while defending our Motherland.
Building Washrooms for Soldiers Suffered Permanent Disability
Currently there are number of soldiers being rehabilitated at different rehabilitation centres and are waiting to return home to rejoin their families. However, most of these valiant soldiers have suffered permanent disabilities and require disable friendly washroom facilities.
We have identified many such soldiers who are deprived of the opportunity of joining their families due to the lack of disabled friendly washroom facilities at their own homes. Our aim is to build as many as suitable washroom facilities for the benefit of these soldiers so they can return home.
Ranaviru Fund is pleased to announce the delivery of items to setup a dedicated resource centre for the brave soldiers with visual impairements. We learnt that there are increased number of soldiers who suffered eye injuries in the war against terrorism and subsequently lost complete sight or partial sight. We have inquired regarding the requirements of these valiant soldiers from the Rehabilitation Directorate of the Sri Lanka Army, based at Ranaviru Sevana, Ragama. As a result we were able to provide the necessary equipment to initiate this facility at the Ranaviru Sevana, Ragama.
Members from Ranaviru Fund officially handed these items to Major Dushyantha Yapa and other fellow officers and soldiersat the rehabilitation centre on 07th March 2010.
In phase-3 of the project we donated medical equipment worth over Rs 1.3 million to the Military Hospital. These medical equipment, which included a Defibrillator, a Pulse Oximeter and a Cardiac Patients Monitor, were formally handed over to the Director of Medical Corps, Brigadier Sanjeewa Munasinghe and Commanding Officer of the Military Hospital, Colonel Kamal Sumanapala, at the Military Hospital on 27-April-2009.
These medical equipment will be commissioned in the new operating theater of the Military Hospital.
